In the year 2000 RAO "UES of Russia" shares accounted for 41.28 per cent of the total volume of trade on the RTS Stock Exchange and 84 per cent of trade at MICEX. RTS figures give the Company's capitalisation at the end of 2000 as 3.365 billion US dollars. Since the beginning of 2001 the RAO "UES of Russia" share price has risen by 70 per cent, while the RTS index has risen by 42.5 per cent.

Since 1997 the Company has participated in the Bank of New York's programme for issuing level 1 American Depository Receipts which are quoted on the unlisted markets of the USA, Great Britain, Germany and Austria. An American Depository Receipts programme for preferred shares has been in operation since May 2000.
